the brand new Madley Park Hall, whilst their own is currently being rebuilt. They
played to a full audience who obviously vastly enjoyed the varied range of music
The concert started with the 35-piece band playing American Patrol. They made a confident
start, with solid playing from all sections.
Showing versatility, they moved through pieces of varying styles, capturing many
different moods and showing off some good technical playing too. There was a notable
solo from James Lowe on the trumpet.
An arrangement of Teddy Bears' Picnic, done by Wendy Marks the conductor, suited
very well the standard of the band, and they really sounded as though they enjoyed
These groups showed an impressive array of local ability, with the potential for
future excellent music making. ”
